terrible 2 makes its grand entrance!

it's finally here!!!!!!
arrrrr!!!!

TERRIBBLLEEEEE TWO!

i swear there must be some sort of a button inside these little bodies
which gets "switched on" no matter what
when the internal body clock strikes TWO!

the once sweet little boy
becomes
someone who keeps saying NO,
who refuses to cooperate,
who likes to put his little hands behind his back
and walks away when he does not get what he want

having enough of all of this
i remembered a mommy friend who
used to give a name to this terrible two thing,
the "monster".

every time when her little girl (who is now the same age as our big brother)
threw tantrums
the mommy friend would keep her grace and calmness,
and politely asked the "monster" to get out from her girl.

so i tried with bbb...

i call it the "angry monster"
and show him how he can let the "angry monster" out
by doing a big breathe out and making the sound along with it "HUHHHH"
after that,
the happy angel will come back

to take a step further,
i dig out some cupcake holders and pipe cleaner
together, we did our first craft together:

our HAPPY ANGEL!

bye bye fukui, hello tokyo

bye bye cute little chikukubonbon

didn't get a chance to ride the bike.........

it was a very refreshing experience...
this accommodation is surrounded by nothing
but lots of trees, fields, and flowers

truly able to have a piece of mind....

before heading home.... shopping spree

while the girls continue their journey,
i had to cut it short and go home

on my last day
before heading off to the airport
we went to sensei tanaka's workshop
to admire her work
and
very importantly,
to shop!

of course,
a trip to japan would be be complete
without *some* shopping

we all went crazy
and grabbed the pieces we fancy

oh yes,
i got a lot *smile*

intermission on day 2: cherry blossom & flea market

竹田の里しだれ桜まつり会場

i have been to japan for countless times over the years
but never once,
did i have the chance to view cherry blossom

so happy to get to do hanami
+ japanese flea market
in one go

seducted by the cherry blossoms
i ended up not checking out the stalls at the flea market....

excited (and at the same time, feeling peaceful and calm)
admiring one tree to another
studying the structure of the different types of cherry blossoms
busy picking up those that had fallen from the tree
glazing over the different shades of pink
amazed with nature

i felt so much peace and quietness inside me....

2nd lesson: mini flower wreath brooch

i totally underestimated this mini wreath
i thought it would be the easiest of all three days

but no, a big NO
indeed it's mini in size
but the steps required for each type of flower
are unexpectedly difficult both in the terms of technique and the actual size
a lot of concentration and attention to the tiniest details....

we all found ourselves still up past 1am in the morning
trying to ensemble the pieces into a circle
(which in itself, i.e. making a nice circle with all the mini flowers and leaves,
is a challenge itself!)

ohayo! ready for day 2!

intermission on day 1: japanese cooking class

as intensive as it is,
we do need to eat!

when the clock strikes 12,
lunch break!

and on the first day,
we get to help with preparing our own lunch!

and taught us how to prepare a full lunch menu
from appetizer to dessert
with the same japanese sauce!

with just miso paste, mirin and sugar
an extremely tasty yet easy to made sauce is made...

by the time the demo and cooking was done,
it was past 1pm
and we all couldn't wait to dive into the simple yet wonderful dishes!

can't wait to try it out when i go home!
