baking time!

second class at sparks & cakes...this time, a few girls whom i met in the first class got togetherand had a private class to learn how to bake this too-pretty-eat early grey chiffon cake with edible flowers and frosting....
little bb tagged along....  i baked while he was being entertained by netflix *laugh*
he loved the cake so much that he asked to have it packed as snacks for schoolthe next day.
really, nothing beats these words, "mommy, they are so yummy!  how do you make them?"

10th cooking class: goya chanpuru

okinawa style stir fly bittermelon (goya chanpuru)
teriyaki pork ribs
seaweed soup
okinawa shortbread cookies (chinsuko)

this class is taken just for somotu
as he loves this bittermelon dish.

the teriyako sauce was surprisingly easy to make too!

should we have this for dinner tomorrow?

kousoku sushi!

somotu and i think that this kousoku store concept is one of the best invention for kids!

little bb just loves it!

he gets to order his own dishes with a touch screen pad
the dishes get delivered by a kousoku (speed train)

looking around us
we see lots of kids
all with sparkling and eager eyes fixed on the track
waiting for the kousoku to arrive with their food!

more reading.............

a different kind of shopping

the recent trip to osaka was my first in a couple of ways...

my first time going to japan with my girl friends:

~ which we actually put aside some time for sightseeing.

~ which i wasn't interested in shopping for clothes, but these:

got most of these from shops along Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street.

it was very nice of the teachers in the cooking centre to share information about this street
and told me not to get the cooking and baking utensils from them
but rather wait till my trip to osaka as there are more varieties and cheaper!

in my mind, there is a list of items to get.
and i ended up getting most of them *happy*

of all the things i got, these are the most special *smile*

little tools to make beating eggs easier.....

pan for making oyakodon!   this is one of the neatest thing....  the vertical handle makes it easier to
slide the fried chicken and egg mixture onto the rice bowl.

this pair of chopsticks is called "master of tamagoyako"....
i used it the other night,
and indeed,
it's the master!
it made the rolling of the egg mixture so much easier!!!!

a little wand to roll on bread dough in order to let the air out after leavening....

another neat thing!!!
a fluted wall wheel shaped bread mold for making this....

happy cooking and baking!

unexpected day off

.... due to typhoon signal no.8

spent the whole day at home, quietly....

playing, cuddling, napping, and....

this time with a twist...
we added small pieces of dried seaweed in the first two layers of the tamagoyaki...

and little bb loved them!

he couldn't stop eating them while i was cooking....
i had to stop him otherwise there would be none left for dinner!

"mami, they are really REALLY yummy!"

mami is so happy you like them
taking those cooking classes is all for you
