finally............. back to work

wearing heels for the first time in almost a year....

going back to work after 4 months +....

with mixed feelings

nervous about returning to work and whether i can cope with the workload

worried about all the projects and work i have to handle vs. being able to leave office in a decent time to see my boys

clumsy with everything in the office... from logging in to printing documents, from checking emails to sending emails...

numbness from wearing the heels (it wasn't a smart decision to break in new shoes when i have not been wearing heels for so long!)

down, of course, for not being to see my boys during the day...

looking back at the past 4 months +,
nothing exceptional or exciting...
there were routines and routines and routines...

feeding bbb, packing little bb's snack box, making sure he brought all the things needed for classes, waiting for little bb to be dismissed from his classes, getting the mini bus to go home with little bb, grocery shopping, taking little bb out, bathing bbb and with little bb, reading with them, cutting their nails, cuddling bob, little bb, brownie and sugar, cooking for them, putting them to sleep.....

again, these are nothing fancy
they are the simple things that make me whole....

i am going to miss the quiet mornings when somotu and little bb have gone to work and summer camp,
leaving bbb all to myself...
we would cuddle up, do baby talk, do some exercise like tummy time, read books... after awhile, bbb would slowly doze off in my arms... then we would sleep together till he woke up again...

i am also going to miss waiting in line and picking up little bb from his summer classes, traveling on the mini-van and mtr..........

it wasn't easy in the office today, not because of the work,
but because of how much i miss my babies......

the thought of not being able to watch over bbb sleeping and picking up little bb sends tears to my eyes..

check out my new shoes

shop shop shop

while we were looking for the soba shop,
we passed by this button shop.

boy, were we lost in the sea of buttons and lace!
most of buttons are very vintage looking
and when we look at the price of some of them,
surely they are vintage!
some were dated back from 1920s....  and they were pricey!

i ended up getting some lace and a few buttons...
hope i can learn how to knit for bbb and use these buttons.

not a bad detour at all!

i got lost while looking for this little area called nakazakicho 中崎町...

it is supposed to be a hip area filled with cafe, handicrafts, vintage stuff, etc....

just when i was about to give up,
i decided to walk the opposite direction to give it one last try.

glad i did!

it was getting quite late when i found it and some shops were closed already....

but at least i was able to hop into a couple of them....
including this one called attic days....
a cute little shop carrying handmade accessories and other goodies...

wandering these little streets is the best part of the trip *smile*

first ever: something green in our house

wow wow wow

this is the first time ever!
the first time ever that something green in our house didn't die on us (yet!)...

it has been almost a month
and it's still going and growing!

it is a watermelon plant little bb brought home from his summer camp...

when he brought it home,
just like many of the other plants he had before,
we didn't expect it to last.

and this is really a big surprise for us all!

that morning when little bb saw a tiny little green stem peeping through the soil,
he has this big grin like no other we have seen before.

not really sure how this watermelon plant will become,
but at least for now,
it is looking *green*...  like how a plant is supposed to look like!

8th cooking class: handmade udon

making udon from scratch...
the kneading was quite tiring but not as tiring as i thought it would be....

the part that i enjoyed the most is the cutting...
i think i am weird
i have this thing with cutting...

i find cutting quite addictive
and not just any cutting
but cutting things into very fine slices/pieces...

when i am cutting,
i have a very peaceful state of mind

i am a weirdo

trumpet: my trial

i had my first trumpet class

actually it's a sit in
because little bb couldn't join due to a conflicting schedule
and that we are not allowed to cancel the class

i must say it is not easy to make sound

i should be happy with what little bb can do now.

eat eat eat .... soba rojina ロージナ

on our first day of arrival at osaka,
the first stop was the bookshop...

i wanted to look for books on zakka
didn't come across any
but travel books / guides

there was one that caught our sight
it was this magazine: 歩く京都

kyoto wasn't in our plan for this trip
but seeing the little streets, cafes and eateries featured in the magazine
we wanted to pay kyoto a visit.

of the soba places featured,
this one, rojina, was the one we wanted to try...
and it was all because of this bowl of soba called はりそば
which is served cold with slices of sudachi 酢橘

it would be perfect for this hot and sunny weather!

and so we went all the way from osaka to kyoto....

after a long walk....
we came to find out that its soba has been sold out!

imagine how disappointed it was!

for the first few minutes,
we wouldn't believe what we came to find out...
we kept peeping through the door and window...

we could hear steady pounding sound...
but the door remained closed.

it must be the kneading / pounding....

how disappointed we were!

and of course,
we found out later that it was on the michelin guide!

for a change.... sight seeing

kiyomizu temple

it was a very sunny day....
quite a walk up the hill...
the ice lolly chilled us out...

walk walk walk

i could safely say this is my first ever trip to japan
that i spent the most time walking around... (i.e. no shopping, just walking around the city)

wandering around, exploring the little streets
have a surprisingly calming effect......

eat eat eat

one of our goals of our trip is to drink lots of coffee

and we did

but it turned out that it was the food that surprised us the most...

breakfast....  acai bowl topped with frozen berries + almond mocha iced coffee

two types of japanese style indian curry with special sauce + iced chai....
this dish is SOOOO yummy....
i almost wanted to go for a second...  but i needed to control myself *smile*

framboise + adzuki iced lolly
we were totally chilled out after popping this into our mouth!

cold soba with ume

shaved ice topped with coffee powder on top of coffee jello
this dessert is totally heavenly!
the ice was so smoooth and soft....
the coffee taste was just right...  it goes so well with the slightly sweetened shaved ice.

like i said above,
the coffee we had this trip was not bad
but the food we had was oh so yummy!!!!

i would need to start to worry about controlling myself if this trip was any longer

first in four years

and so,
i finally did it....

finally went on a girl's trip...

it took me quite some time to decide...

should i go or not?

the thought of leaving my boys behind made me feel guilty

and that my maternity leave is coming to end made me feel like i should spend as much time as possible with them...

just when i was about to stay
my dear friend reminded me that we haven't been on a girl's trip for four years....

that's true

i don't know when i will have the opportunity again
especially when bbb grows older and become more attached...
it will be even harder to leave the boys behind...

and so i decided to go.  a very short trip....  lesser the guilt....

the night i packed my suitcase,
little bb came over and asked whether i needed to bring something along that would
"help you, mami, when you miss me"...

oh little bb, you read my mind!
i was actually thinking about this!!!

how happy and heartwarming i felt!

yes baby, please... mami would need to bring along things that i could hold onto whenever i miss you.

these are the things he gave me:
~ a whistle*
~ a flag
~ a pen

and i took one of bbb's little handkerchief**....  it was full of his bb smell *hmmmmm*

apart from these,
we also put tattoos on our arms
so that it would be like we were next to each other...

he chose a star, a gem, an arrow for me...

.... and finally,
he said he wanted to go too.............

* when i came home,
i was told that little bb was looking everywhere for the whistle!
he has forgotten that he gave it to me!

** i slept with bbb's handkerchief on the first night of our trip.
but i was constantly awake, fearing i would lose it...
(very silly of course...  how could i lose it).
i put it back in my suitcase the following morning...

colors of the day

colors he chose today

they make me feel like thanksgiving / fall

green tea pudding

this green tea pudding which i learned yesterday is very easy to make...

to add a little bit more color to it,
i placed tiny sakura flowers over the cream on top...
