rewind #4.... pink

of the many many times i have been to japan,
the recent trip to sapporo is one which i saw the most cherry blossom...
and by that i mean,
either one tree by itself or, at most, three to four together....

one day,
i will be at the right place at the right time
to be surrounded by pink...

for now,
these few are just as good....

made vs. bought

made...
vs.
bought (from sapporo)
love them all....

his encounter with a 10 month old

we had lunch today with somotu's friends
one of them has a 10 month old baby boy...

little bb was seated next to the baby

seeing the baby's mom not having a chance to eat
(as she was busy feeding pumpkin soup to the hungry baby),
i helped by taking over to feed the baby....

i squatted down, between the two boys, feeding the soup to the baby....

next thing i know,
little bb put his arm around my neck,
held me tight, put his face really close to mine,
and looked at me in a very loving and gentle way.....
while i continued to feed the baby...

then,
the baby spotted the colourful bracelets on my hand
and started playing with them...

immediately, little bb went,
"mami ga!
唔係你ga!
唔好整難呀!"

after lunch,
as soon as i picked up the baby to give him a hug,
a little person rushed over,
pulled my top,
attempted to climb up my leg,
jumped up and down
whining and crying....
"mami 抱我啦!"

wooooooo

i smell jealousy!
(and i am secretly feeling sweet and loved!)

rewind #3..... heidi farm (ハイジ牧場)

on day 4, we went to Heidi Farm.
we had so much fun there!

we fed the goats, calves, sheep...
watched the cows eat,
ran around with the pigs,
quack quack quack with the ducks,
made faces at the grumpy old goats, impatient ostrich,
said hello to the horses (i wanted to do horse riding with little bb but somotu wouldn't approve... *frown* as he thinks little bb is too small for it, which i don't really agree... oh well, next time)
and there was even one alpaca (though somotu didn't find it cute... as it isn't as furry as the ones we usually see in photos..... )
(little bb refused to see the

and i find these fellows really cute and funny...
whenever we walked pass them,
they would gather and stand up as if they wanted to jump on us...
they must be really bored that morning (or rather, they were after the food in our hands!)

pressed grass and straw for feeding the animals on the farm...
some of them were really big
and the farm owner explained to us that it was done on purpose for education purposes....
which is,
to teach children to observe how animals eat,
and to problem solve, i.e. if the piece of food is too big for the animal,
the children are to try what size is right and how to make the right size by using the hammer....
how thoughtful!

it's a pity that we got there too early that morning and weren't able to milk the cows or
feed milk to baby sheep....

p.s. it is possibly the cleanest and neatest farm (and with the least smell)!

more little things....

he is loving his new (and first) pair of rain boots
which we got during our recent trip to sapporo...
and a disclaimer!  i didn't choose the colour (pink and blue),
it was somotu who decided on this color over another (red and blue)!
besides, little bb said he likes pink.... (though he said his favorite color is black)

found the photos showing how he wanted to pack himself into my travel bag
while i was packing for the business trip i just came back from....
i couldn't help laughing whenever i see these photos....

before bedtime tonight,
little bb brushed his teeth as usual....
and i commented how brownie and sugar have not been brushing their teeth....
little bb asked, "why?"
before i could answer, he said "因為brownie no hands!"
i said, "wow, you are quite right!  they have no hands but what do they have?"
he put out his hand with four fingers up, "four feet!"

little things

when i came back home from the recent business trip,
the first thing i did (after i offloaded the bags at home, got changed and tied up my hair)
was to wait downstairs for little bb to come home from school.
in my mind, i pictured little bb grinned when he saw me waiting for him,
and he would shout "mami mami"...
when the school bus really did arrive, i was greeted by a sleepy head....
he could barely lift his head up to see me....
oh well....
went home, put him down on the sofa so that he could continue to sleep....
i sat next to him watching him sleep...
i thought to myself, no place else is better than home.

not long, he woke up, stared at me and smiled.... a very gentle smile...
"mami, where did you go?"
"why?"
he kept repeating these two questions....

next, he touched my face and tried to reach out to my hair,
looking very puzzled,
he said, "huh?"...
ahhh, he was trying to look for my hair (which has been tied up)...
"are you looking for mami's hair?"
"yes"
"here here", i let down my hair...
he smiled...
"you like the hair down or up?"
"down"

then, somotu came home from work....
what was the first thing little bb said to us both???

"dadi, hug hug mami!"
he ordered while pointing at us both.

somotu and i exchanged looks and couldn't help but giggled....
how sweet of little bb...

of course we both hugged...
within a second, a little body came hugging us.....
followed by brownie and sugar
*smile*

:::::::::::::::::::::

days before i went on my trip,
i have started telling little bb that i would be away for a few days....
that i would be flying in an airplane to utrecht..
before i could finish my line,
he said
"mami go utrecht to buy yo-yo!"
yes!
so he could recall what i got him last time i went to utrecht!

it was a very simple, old fashioned kind of wooden yo-yo...
a yellow one
which he loved very much....

this time round, i got him another one....
he wanted a red one...
but all that were left in the same store were green and blue....
so i got him a green one.

:::::::::::::::::::::

when i was packing for the trip,
he asked if i could pack him too....
i would love to!
and so, he tried to fit himself into my bag.....
he tried putting his feet in first,
then he tried sticking his head into the bag
and said "點解唔得gae?"
*smile*

:::::::::::::::::::::

i love kissing little bb all over
but what i really really love to do
is to munch on his cheeky face, smelly toes, little bump and tummy......

i usually start off kissing him first
then when he is unguarded,
i will start munching him...
hahahaha

he will laugh out loud and twist and turn around non-stop....
then he will say,
"mami, 唔好pat pat,
mami,  fingers la"
he will then put out his hand....
he rather has his fingers being munched on than his bump
hahahaha

:::::::::::::::::::::

we have been using the *1 minute* cool down period
to wind him down, for coming to a stop with watching tv, playing, etc...
and recently,
he started using this trick to bargain with us!
the other day, he wanted me to carry him
i told him to wait as i was tied up with something else and have no hands for him....
he went "ok mami, 1 minute only!"

treasure hunt..... part II

vintage lace from the same shop in sapporo
love them so much!

it really felt like a treasure hunt when i was kneeling down with my head almost buried into the basket of vintage lace.....
not long, the kind store keeper went in a room and handed me another bag full of more lace....

i love how each piece is neatly tied with a delicate piece of ribbon / lace....

no particular use of them, to be honest,
just looking at them, feeling the lace, admiring them already made my day.

something new, something old

after months of shopping,
another month of making,
we finally got a new table and set of chairs...

we decided on the design and material for the chairs first at one shop...
then after a few weeks,
we (actually it's more somotu than me, he's very particular about these things) found a table that is closest to what we have in mind in another shop...
we chose the material with what we could remember the ones for the chair... hoping they would match as closest as possible...
quite happy with them as they turned out to be quite alright...

it feels quite good to have something new in the house......

took out a few zakka items i got a long while ago for decoration....

it feels good to be doing nothing, reading, drinking coffee, drinking tea, surfing online, listening to music with the new furnitures...

a day in amsterdam

back to Utrecht a few days for work...
this round, I had a one day trip to Amsterdam....
