2!

our little bb turned 2 this past saturday!
(as well as turning into a true terrible 2!! *headache*)

wasn't going to have a birthday party for him this year...
but after finding out that it fell on a saturday,
we decided to throw one....

didn't have as much time as i would like to plan and prepare for the party
as my new job turns out to be quite hectic and stressful.

i would love to hand make more things for the party than i have now....
oh well...

haven't got the chance to sort out the pictures taken that day

just two for now....

the theme was "ice-cream" as little bb loves eating ice-cream

an ice cream truck designed by me

a birthday party handmade for little bb (who refused to wear it *frown*)

and the super tasty and beautifully homemade birthday cake by joanna!

tons of thanks to joanna, salina and kae for helping out!

happy birthday little bb!
we love you dearly....

my day was wrapped up nicely

my day was long today
left office around 9pm tonight

but i got a surprise...
little bb and somotu were waiting for me
downstairs of my office building!

in less than a second,
all the headaches, frustrations, exhaustion
vanished!

our little man

almost 2 years,
i am still obsessed with these little feet and little toes.

i love kissing them,
i love munching them,
i love smelling them,
and i need to rub them gently before i go to bed every night.

little bb is no longer a "baby"...
in the recent months,
he is learning, picking up new things quick
he is becoming more and more independent
he likes to say his name and tap his chest,
to indicate to us that he can do things himself, without our help...
he is now more expressive than ever
he talks quite a lot but we don't quite get all that he is saying...
sometimes, he talks like an alien.... like "a be boo boo"?????!!!
he knows what he wants and he wants them right away
and
at the same time,
he is becoming more and more cheeky.

it's like,
we say right, and he go left
we say up, and he go down
we say yes, and he say no

a true "terrible two"

somotu and i have been reading quite a lot about how to handle a "terrible two"
hopefully we can deal with this stage with grace *smile*

and
these days,
he also likes to sing and dance.
after dinner, he will say "miu sic" while pointing at the CD player.
as soon as the first song is playing,
he will start dancing,
humming,
repeating the last word to each phrase of the songs....

and
at bed time,
as i sing twinkle twinkle little star to him,
he repeats the last word or sometimes sing the entire phrase....

i look at this little person,
and am always amazed with how much he has grown.....

birthday party hats

little bb has been going to school for two months now...
apart getting used to being away from us,
from learning new words, new songs, how to wash his hands properly, etc
he has also made some new friends!

today, 6 families got together to throw a little birthday party
for the 6 boys and girls who had turned / will be turning (that's little bb) 2
in the past couple of months / this month.

each mommy has a different task for the preparation of the party.
for me,
i signed myself up to prepare the finger food for the kids
and
to make the birthday hats!
(actually the task was to buy hats...  but of course,
my itchy hands found their way to a pair of scissors, craft paper, ribbons, etc)

i didn't really have much time these days
and this is what i could manage to make in the end...

for the girls

and for the boys

the topper for the hats was the part that i spent the most time
coming up with.
have thought of using pom pons, ribbons....
but i had done that for little bb last year
and wanted to do something different this year...

was very glad that i caught sight of rolls of ruffled paper!
after playing around with the roll a couple of nights,
i decided to do this...
first, i folded the paper strip into half,
then, i cut through the folded paper, each cut around 0.5cm apart.
when cutting, i cut from the folded side,
and stopped cutting when i am about 0.4cm from the side that is open.
i then added glue to the top of the party hat and started going round
the top with the strip.....
the end product is a flower / pom pom lookalike topper
which i like very much *smile*

as for the number "2",
i used one of my favourite material...
german glittered glass.
champagne pink for the girls
and aqua blue for the boys

stapled ribbons with polka dots to each side of the hat for tying round the little heads.
last year, i used elastic band for little bb and our little guests' hats.
but it was a bit uncomfortable and a bit too tight...
so i used ribbons instead this round....

to hide the staples on the side of the hats,
i used the ruffled paper again.
folded the ruffled paper into half,
gathered it into ruffles and used glue to fix it around the hat.

happy birthday to all the lovely kids!

and little bb,
in just a couple weeks time,
you will also be 2!!!!

my magnetic field

finally got around to make a couple of magnets
with the fabric flowers i have been making....

these magnets are to be used for holding
notes and little reminders on the fridge.

these magnets are made with combining
handmade fabric flowers,
vintage stamina,
vintage lace,
new lace,
vintage charms,
new charms,
distressed hand-dyed ruffled paper.

p.s.
a sweet friend got these magnets for me...
but little did we know about their power!!!!

i got 10 of them.
they were all stacked up in a roll....
and man,
we had a hard them pulling them apart!
i had to use all my force to pull them apart,
almost broke my nails, no kidding!

their magnetic fields are so strong that i think, with a few of them together,  they can stick little bb onto the fridge!

as seen above, each magnet was able to hold up a stack of memo paper which is almost 2cm thick!
