warmth

finally!
a winter blanket made for little bb!

i wanted to make a thick and warm one for him for a long time....
searched around and found a nice piece of fleece in white....
together with the fleece, i also got some tiny loops/pompoms in mohair as trimmings

but the materials were sitting in my basket for months....
i simply didn't have the time to sit down and make the blanket...

last weekend,
i said to myself that i really ought to work on it otherwise we need to say bye bye to the cold weather and the poor materials will be all lonely until the next winter.

so this is it!
it is really thick and warm....
although it was difficult to make (due to the size and thickness of the blanket; and the smallness of my working table),
i am quite happy with how the blanket turns out....

i have this thing about tassels...
i like them tiny
made tiny chubby tassels with leftover wool from the birthday hat i made for little bb...
added one to each corner of the blanket.
i wasn't sure how it be like after surviving spins in the washing machine...
whether they will shrink, fall apart, etc
but all four of them stayed intact!!!  *smile*

i used fleece on one side of the blanket and cotton fabric on the other side.
the cotton fabric is a "museum" grade kind of collection to me!
it doesn't show very well in these pictures,
but it is of very very pale blue with scalloped patterns all over.
i like it very much and have been reluctant to use it....
thinking i should save it for the "one" very special project.
it has been waiting patiently in my closet for a long long time.
with this winter blanket...
i think i have found THE project!
added initial monograms onto this side of the blanket.....
as for the tiny loops/pompoms, i had trimmed two adjacent sides of the blanket in grey and the other two sides in blue...

on the other side, the fleece side,
i added an iron-on .....
the iron-on is a circus house in nice pastel colors with a piece of lace....

alright little bb,
you are all set for the cold weather
(sorry, it came a bit late....
but it is better late than nothing at all ^_^)
