curiosity got sugar

this morning, while i was taking pictures of the cushion i made,
sugar came into the room with a pair of curious eyes.

i thought she was curious of the cushion.... something that might smell new to her....

(brownie, as you can see from above, was absolutely not curious and not interested about what's going on in the room)

but no!   she wasn't interested in the cushion....
it was the squirrel which i placed next to the cushion!
curious sugar!
but she seemed to be a bit shy....
i guess she's figuring out how to meet this new friend....

hmmm...... still pondering what to say to her new friend....

still couldn't think of what to say.....
so she stood up.... trying to get the attention of mr. squirrel

trying to get closer..............

and closer......
why not a hello-kiss???!

well well....
okok let mama help you....
mama asked mr. squirrel to come down from the chair.....
that's so much mama could do for you.
sugar, you have to take it from here!

~~~~  i really find these few shots funny and cute ~~~~
actually i think i know why sugar is so curious and interested at mr. squirrel......
both got fluffy tails!!!!
comfy?
i found out that our helper is also a crafty person!
she used to make baby clothes, dog clothes, etc, etc....
one of the dog outfits she made has even won a contest!
most of the nights, she sits in her area doing cross-stitching.
the project she is working on now is HUGE in size!
when completed, it is the scene of a waterfall, lots of greens, flowers and birds....
she has been been working on it on and off for almost a year!
i am amazed by her patience!
i asked her what is she going to do with it when it is done...
she said probably framed it and give to a friend.....
really amazing!
i thought that the stool which she is sitting on is not that comfortable....
just imagine doing cross-stitches, looking at tiny tiny symbols and signs on the pattern sheet
while sitting on a not so comfy chair.....
so last night, i tried making a cushion with cushion cover.....
this is what i ended up making....
i think it looks alright.
i used four different types of fabrics for the back, front and inside.
added a piece of lace and ribbon as decoration.
i am particulary happy to find a good use for this lace-look-alike piece of fabrics.....
it has been sitting in my drawer for too long....
and the back....
she said it is comfy..... i hope it is....
enjoying
brownie is unusually attached to me today............
usually he is more attached to somotu
but today, he chooses to sit next to me for a long time
and keeps licking my hand....
i m loving it!
but not for *you*
i didn't really like the last padded bag i made for the polaroid....
so this afternoon, i set off to make a new one.
this time, i used quite a bit of different pieces of lace.
color theme is neutral + a hint of black....
and a bit of paris..... by hand-stamping french scripts and the signature eiffel tower....
the end product......
amongst the different pieces of lace i used for this bag,
this is the most "vintage" looking piece....
which i bought online awhile ago.
most of the rest of the lace were from the lace center in tokyo.
i have been quite reluctant to use them....
but i guess they may be happier finding themselves useful than sitting in the dark inside my drawer.....
added a little water pearl....
.....  and added a piece of the lace monogram with the letter *A*
again, i have been reluctant to use the monograms in my projects....
but then, again, better let it see sunlight.....
didn't take me as long as i thought it would to finish this padded drawstring bag....
the only problem was.............
my polaroid couldn't fit in the bag!!!!!!!!!!!
ooopppsssssssssss
it turned out the measurement i took was wrong!!!!!!
hahaha
hmmmm
i was holding the bag staring at it, thinking what to do with it.....
then i caught sight of my other camera.....
luckily the camera could fit nicely in the bag......
well i guess, my dear polaroid,
you will have to wait.....
the fun continues
i made a handful more of the little drawstring bags for my handmade accessories.....
this time i had fun using linen thread.
i tied the linen thread into tiny ribbon bows and sew them to the handstamped tags.....
decorating these little drawstring bags is just as fun as making the accessories!
my wake up call
the above look more like a crime scene, don't they?
the beds were in a mess, blankets thrown here and there,
toys lying all over the place.....
tiny outfits tossed here and there.....
even the basket for holding the toys was flipped over.
this was what i woke up to this morning.....
or i should say, what woke me up this morning.
i was sound asleep until i heard noises
"woooo woooo wooo"
"errr errr errrrrrr"
followed by some scratching noises.....
then sound of things being thrown around....
when i finally got up from bed,
the above was what i saw.....
all things turned upside down.
but,
no sign of brownie and sugar.... not even their shadows....
i thought i should take a picture of this scene to show to somotu,
so i went to get my camera.
as i was shooting,
brownie sneaked into my room....
but as soon as he saw me staring at him,
he turned and tried to run away...
to run away from the crime scene!
trying to squeeze in through the door again.....
i guess he is very proud of his great work!
still no sign of sugar though!
oh there are you sugar!
you are always hiding behind your big brother when you smell danger!
hahahaha
peripheral matters
there is a much more important task and event that is going to take place soon....
but i have been trying not to think too much about it.....
trying not to get myself too nervous, too worried.....
so let's talk about peripheral matters!
hmmm like, for one... listening to the radio
i used to like listening to the radio
especially to the programmes in the morning and afternoon during weekdays.
i guess the reason is because i don't get to listen to them on weekdays as i need to go to work.
so in the past, every time i am on vacation, sick at home, one of the things i look forward to is listening to the radio.
but ever since i needed to stay home, things have changed.
i find listening to the radio boring.
why?
because they play the same songs over and over again during the day.
the same songs are being played by different DJs in different programmes again and again....
i can't help but think they must have a machine at the back which is programmed to shuffle and play the same set of songs day in day out.....
and the worse thing is, most of those canton pop are not great songs.....
i think i AM old.
when i was younger, my father used to say "oh my goodness, who is this guy?  why is he singing like this?  he can't even pronounce the word right?  what kind of lyrics is that?  oh my, the melody!?  it's awful...."
then i would say "dad, you are just too old-fashioned.... caught in your own 50's, 60's and 70's world...."
ah-ha!!!
but i find myself thinking just like my father now....  asking the same questions when i hear the canton pop nowadays....
but i can't live without music,
so instead of filling up the room with voices and music from the radio,
i turn to chet baker.....  sometimes throw in sandy lam, faye, mondialito, kings of convenience, nouvelle vague.....
okok
so much grumbling about the radio and DJs for now.....
another peripheral matter is......
my space is being swallowed.
i used to have the whole room to myself.... for all my zakka things, materials for making accessories, magazines, books, fabrics, tools, lace......
now,
half of the space has been swallowed by some thing else....
and i could just see my little half of the space diminishing slowly................................
i guess this is one of the many things to give up in preparation of what is to come..... but yes i know, this is really peripheral.... ha!
i could go on and on about other matters....................
but i think i should go to bed now....
so
goodnight!
p.s.
yes i know, this is a really *peripheral* / *misc* post.... ^_^
my *collection*
while trying to empty some of the drawers for bb,
i came across a stack of magazine pages.....
i have forgotten about them.... as they were hiding at the bottom of the drawers.
went through them one by one....
they are pages from various magazines, mostly japanese magazines, with photos of things that i fancy.
the plan was to cut out the images and glue them onto a little book to keep....
so that i could look at these nice things from time to time....
usually these are things that i am not able to get here in hk, or things i like but i know will not look good on me, or just simply things i can never have..........
so it's good to keep them in a book.....  as if i own them!
i sat down and spent the afternoon cutting and gluing.....
this page is all about clothes.....
the blouse at top is really nice, with fluffy sleeves....  but i know i won't look good in it...
the tunic at the bottom is nice because it has lace on the sleeves!
even if i think i will look ok in them, i won't be able to get them here in hk.....
this is quite good, isn't it?  just looking, no shopping!
this page is about pretty looks and hair styling....
don't you think the hair styling on these two pretty girls are romantic and sweet?
but not on me!  hahaha....
but just as happy to look at them and admire....
okok, more clothes....
i do love clothes and fashion....
and i love the cardigan with the big black ribbon bow.....
there are some similiar ones here in hk, but not with details as nice as this one....
zakka!
this page is about zakka!
i just love the all white piece of furniture!
love the all white antique looking handles!
love how things are displayed on top of it too!
need i say more?
lace!
.....  love the wallpaper at the back....
i could never have such kind of wallpaper in our house!
just imagine the look on somotu's face!
well, unless we have a many thousand square feet house and so many rooms that somotu will never notice if i decorate one of them with this kind of wallpaper!
so this is my collection of things i love..... in a one-dimensional way!
faerie * fairy
i just love the latest issue of litte thing magazine (issue #13)
the special feature of this issue is all about fairies.....
love all the pictures taken, the styling, little things you need to know about fairies....
imagine being shrunk in size, having tiny little wings on the back.....
hopping from one flower to another....
playing little magic (or really tricks) on humans....
let's forget about the real world for awhile
*above images are pictures of the pages i love from this issue*
mostly
when i get to go out,
tunic + leggings
tunic + mama jeans
mostly tunic
i find that tunic is the easiest thing to go with at such a time....
besides,
it is now mostly black.......
i still try to throw in a bit of lace here and there....
i miss my other lace-y tops....
released...... briefly
yes,
i was released from home both yesterday and today (with the permission and supervision of somotu... hahahaha).
yesterday, a bunch of girl friends threw a baby shower for me....
not only was i happy that i was "released" but also to catch up with the girls.
we ate and talked, ate and gossiped, ate and laughed...
some good times!
oh and before i got picked up by somotu, i was able to sneak in some moments for window shopping with the girls.......... ^_^
met up with joanna (and our hubbies tagged along)....
had lunch then went shopping a bit for bb stuff....
happy happy!
these couple of days, i also let myself went naughty...
bought bags and bags of chips, beef jerky, candies, cookies...
yum yum!
though, these are not really what i am REALLY craving for....
what i am REALLY craving for is
......
COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is said that one cup of coffee a day during pregnancy is acceptable...
but i am not allowed at the moment....
arrghhhhhhhhhhhh
