issue no. 9

just got it this afternoon,
the latest issue is now in my hands.
apparently, it has been out for awhile....
but i have missed the voicemail from the bookshop...
luckily, it was still waiting for me when i got there....

i have yet to taste and enjoy it...
but can't wait to share a few pages here....

is there such a thing as magic box?
one that brings pleasure, warmth, happiness, surprises.......

i think so....

i have come across it in many different forms:
~ music albums from my favorite singers / bands
~ discovery of singers / bands unknown to me
~ pieces and pieces of delicate and dainty lace
~ zakka books with beautiful zakka items
~ blogs with dreamy and whimsical photos
~ unique handicrafts lovingly created by crafters

what can last a long time???

diamonds are forever (as in the ads... haha)???

i can think of one thing.....
the very first rose i got.
somotu, if i show it to you now, can you recognize it?
or will you say, "what's that?? what's that piece of junk?"

and can we go to the beach again?
i promise this time
i won't complain about all the sand getting into my shoes....
i will wear flip-flops this time....

..... before you know it, it's december!
this year has gone by so quickly.....
2009 has been full of changes....
i hope all the changes are for the better....
and
i do think things happen for a reason....

i want to sit on a tree branch....
one full of pretty pink flowers....

i wonder if i can sit as effortlessly as the girl in the picture...
probably not....
i am too clumpsy...

still working on it

still trying to find time here and there to prepare for the fair.
right now, there are close to thirty pieces which i think should be more than enough...

what i still need to do is to take pictures of each of them...
will need to wait until oct 1 (our national day) or this sat
when i don't need to work and can shoot during daytime.

rain rain...
please go away...
i need to borrow some light from mr. sunshine....
please.....

... and blue

all things white

saw these pretty iron gates while i was walking around in urahara (裏原宿)...

this is an iron gate to someone else's home....
behind the white iron gate,
there was a wooden bench in a very light shade of pink... very pretty and cute...
too bad it didn't show up clearly in the picture....
can you see it? it's on the left hand side of the picture...
no? just imagine....

found another gate in white....
very pretty....

if i ever have a house.... white for the gates please!

what will you do when someone say to you:

a). think the person is crazy

b). think the person did something wrongful to you

c). smack the person in his/her face and walk away

d). think the person wants to get something out of you

e). melt

f). kiss the person on his/her cheek

g). throw a big hug to the person and say "same here"

i think it is really heartwarming to say something positive and caring to the ones you care....

and say it out loud and direct.

i will try doing this at least once a day....

it's free

it doesn't cost anything

but it makes you and the ones you care happy and loved.

something i get to do when i travel

letting all the shopping bags lying here and there
... being messy...

eating away..... snacking away..... drinking away....
while lying in bed.... watching TV....
i don't do this at home cuz i was "taught" not to....
my mom disapproved eating in bed when i was small...
this is probably one of the few things my mom "taught" me and that i am still "following" today......
** cunning smile **

new members

awhile ago, we came across some relatively cheap polaroids for sale.....
without second thoughts, we got two.

this is one of the two we got...
the seller was upfront and made it clear that it is not known whether it still works...
but we got it nonetheless as i really like its look....

as much risk as paying for something that may not work,
we are not as adventurous to put in film to test it....
so it is now sitting in my closet.

i think i will let it "sit outside" in our new place...
probably on a shelf or in a glass cupboard (if i am lucky enough to get one)....

last forever

i have tried drying fresh hydrangea many times
but was only successful a couple of times...

either they turned out to be too wrinkled and shrunk alot,
or the color became too pale, too greyish...

while i was at yuzawaya,
i saw boxes of preserved flowers....
hydrangea is one of the kind of flowers available...
so happy!!!

they come in different colors,
pink, blue, purple.....
but the only color i like is cream.

they are very delicate and tiny....
the picture above does not do them justice...
they are really pretty in person.

i used a few of them to make a necklace for the fair....
a very simple and small necklace.
just one.... hehe... cuz i really don't wanna cut out any more from the stem....
too pretty.... hehe

any difference between the one in the 1st picture and the one in the picture above???
the one in the 1st picture is the one i got from yuzawaya
the one in the 2nd picture is one i dried myself....
which is the one and only one i dried and kept
the others were given away....
one of which was used to make this...

motoya COFFEE!!

on my last day in tokyo,
my first stop was la droguerie.

on may way to the shop,
i walked pass this sign which caught my eyes immediately...

COFFEE!!!!

i followed the sign
and found this cute little van parked on a sidewalk on omotesando.

i told myself "must try! must try!"

i ordered an iced one...
my n-th cup of coffee in this trip

as it turned out,
it was my best cup (in this trip)!
the coffee taste was strong,
the texture was smooth...

along with the cup of coffee,
i was also given a little piece of cookie (free!)...

a few steps away from the van, there is a little sitting area
with a few wooden chairs,
a coffee table (as seen above),
a boom-box playing music.....
and a digital clock (why was it placed there? who needs to be reminded of time when relaxing???)
.... the cigarette buds are NOT mine.... but the cup of coffee is.... hehe....

i sat on one of the wooden chairs and sipped from my cup....
i watched the young lady preparing coffee...
i watched people stopping by getting their drinks...
i watched the young lady and her customer chi-chatting away....
i sniffed as hard as i could to inhale the non-stop flow of coffee aroma coming from the grinding of coffee beans....

it was a wonderful experience on a nice morning....

A to Z

i have heard about this cafe from my friends enough times
that i told myself i definitely need to go to this place while in tokyo this time....

as usual, it wasn't easy to find it...
as usual, i was lost...
but i was lucky enough to bump into someone who can speak english and took me there....

i was a bit disappointed as there are far fewer drawings of yoshitomo nara than expected....
but i like the ambience a lot....

and i like the tables, chairs and wooden floor...

i particularly like this chair...
i like the "little pocket" at the back....
it would be very handy if i could have one at home...
i could stick in pieces of paper, magazines, books....
then i wouldn't need to walk around, lazy me!

the table i chose was a low wooden table,
i sat on a sofa
and on the other side of the table were three little people's chairs...
i find them very cute.... but was afraid to break them
so i sat on the sofa instead....

i ordered this as lunch...
omelette with rice
just two words::
SUPER YUMMY!!!!!
it was my best meal of the trip!!!!!

my iced coffee
and
ice-cream.....

p.s. about the ice-cream....
i actually didn't want to have ice-cream......
when i was looking at the menu,
on the same page for drinks,
i saw "vanilla ice" in katakana...
i immediately ordered it
as i thought it was ICE IN VANILLA FLAVOR....
just imagine,
how superb it would be to sip from a cup of coffee with drips of vanilla flavor!!!!
something i have never had before!
you must now be thinking.... stupid!
yes,
i was very silly....
of course it was not ICE,
it was JUST ICE-CREAM.....
but at least i got "vanilla" right.... haha....
i didn't find out until the waitress placed the bowl of ice-cream in front of me...
for a split second,
i thought
"when did i order ice-cream?????"....
hahahaha...

eye candy ♥ B ♥

one of the designers who i think is super talented is
Nicolas Ghesquiere.

each of his collection for balenciaga is fascinating...
i love the cutting, structure, form and use of different materials...

some of the pieces i love from his 09 pre-fall collection:

i like the color tone
and
the sleeves!!! so pretty and different...

so cool!
tell you a secret,
i actually tried on this pair of pants yesterday....
amazing cutting and structure....
though....
i must say...
i look like a piece of short and fat carrot.... ha
and,
of course i like the color tone of the entire set...

cute yet cool...
love those ankle boots....
if and only if,
i have the body of these models,
if and only if,
i have many extra zeros to my bank balance....
well well well
it's ok to dream, right?
