the lace center ~ part 3

i can really keep talking about the lace center...

anyway,
apart from the pieces of lace,
i also got a few of these motifs with the initial *A* embroidered in the center.
and i just have to say it again,
i really like the little cards in the shape of a spool which the shop uses as packaging...
i should have asked for a couple more...

this is a book of postcards....
what is it about?
of course LACE, LACE, LACE!
each postcard is different and comes with a brief history of the particular type of lace...
i thought i should educate myself more about the history and different types of lace
so i got this book as well.

one of the postcards....

the name of this piece is Chantilly,
and the type is bobbin lace.
A design from the 19th century in France,
it was usually used as a border.
