our family has the habit of giving real (tangible) cards to one another on special days. virtual cards are never as warm and loving than real ones. this father's day, as usual, i went to hallmark to pick a card for my dad. there was an unbelievable small selection of father's day cards! i flipped through one card after another and, to be honest, was disappointed with the selection available. the ones available were either too kiddish (snoopy, garfield, etc), too doggy (pictures of dogs ~ though my father likes dogs, i don't think he would relate himself to one on father's day), too boring (dark tones, sailing in the sea kinda stuff...). i recall that for mother's day, the variety of cards (although not a whole lot) was far better than what i saw now... it leads me to think whether it is because people don't love their dads as much or they don't see father's day as important and meaningful as mother's day. for one thing, if you think about it, there are more songs about mothers than fathers.. i actually think it is quite unfair / an understatement of the role a father plays... i think fathers are equally important as mothers and deserve the same kind of attention, treatment and love... men (and fathers) are usually more refrained from showing affection, but i know my father does care about us and our family.... HAPPY FATHER'S DAY...

motu, totally agree with you, eg on mother's day, restaurant will give a carnation to mothers, while for dad, nothing at all.

i think it's so unfair for dad. actually my dad has given me better life vision and guidance than my mom. i love my dad.
